I'm back! News & Edible Arrangements

Its crazy to think I've been gone for 3 weeks!  I've missed blogging, but my life was temporarily turned upside down, and is just now starting to get back to normal.  I won't go into too many details, but I had to make an emergency trip to the hospital for my boyfriend.  We thought he would be there for perhaps a day or two, but things didn't go as smoothly as planned- he ended up spending 8 days in the hospital.  While there, he endured three surgical procedures as well as an emergency blood transfusion to treat his unexpected internal bleeding.

All that being said, he is home now and doing great during his recovery time.  By "recovery time" I mean, lounging on the couch while smashing zombies on the PS3.  He has five more weeks of zombie smashing before he can go back to work, but he will make a full recovery :)

Onto my next topic - Edible Arrangements!  Have you guys heard of them?  I hadn't until one was delivered to us as a get well gift for my boyfriend.  Getting flowers is awesome, but getting edible flowers is even more awesome!  Just look at how cute it is!

This "flower" arrangement is made entirely of sculpted pineapple, melons, strawberries and grapes- yum!  I was surprised to see how reasonable their prices are, very similar to having flowers delivered.

I hope to get back to nail posts soon, I've been going through nail painting withdrawls!

Quick Swatch! Sinful Colors - Athens

It feels like I've been away forever!  Things have been tough lately, and that's my only excuse for abandoning my blog for a full week.  But, I have returned with a simple swatch to share!  Athens is a medium shade of grayed out blue.

Formula on this one is awesome, only 1-2 coats required- go Sinful Colors!  You are quickly becoming my favorite drug store brand!

April Glam Bag

My April Glam Bag arrived today!  Last month's Glam Bag was a bit on the "meh" side, but this month is a great improvement, I'm glad I decided to stick with my subscription.  Onto the contents!

I'm so pleased that My Glam skipped on the advertizements & single use sample packets and went straight for the good stuff- makeup and brushes!  One of the items I am most pleased with is the Urban Decay 24/7 pencil- I absolutely love them and have acquired a modest collection.  The color My Glam chose for me (Junkie) fits right in with my other little lovelies!

I'm super pleased with this month's bag, I think it included items that both makeup beginners, and makeup pros would enjoy.  I hope that My Glam keeps up the good work!

Easter Splatter Nails!

I love pastels and I love splatter nails, so this mani just made sense to do for Easter!  I'm really pleased with how they turned out!  I even scored a compliment from the boyfriend who is usually uninterested in my nail adventures.

 

I used Color Club "Sugar Sheer" as the base, and then splattered with Color Club "Overboard", OPI "Do You Lilac It?", Sinful Colors "Unicorn", and two Julep colors; "Jessica" & "Leah".  These are all creme colors except for "Leah" (green) which has some shimmer to it.

I love Unicorn!!!

This polish was love at first swatch!  Corny, I know, but so true!  I have never been a fan of yellow polishes and only picked this one up because obviously I need a polish named "Unicorn", and also because Easter is so soon.  Since Unicorn is by Sinful Colors, this was only a $2 risk, no big deal.

Is this not the most perfect pastel yellow?!  It is so soft and creamy looking, I absolutely love it!  Formula wasn't bad at all, went on pretty smooth and even.  I used three coats in this picture, but two would be okay if you're not super sensitive about VNL like I am.  In my opinion, this polish is work appropriate which is always a bonus.  Its so refreshing to be able to wear something other than pinks and nudes to work.

After this swatch, I decided to add some other colors.  Didn't come out as awesome as I had hoped, but I will share it anyway!

 While I like the colors I used, the baby blue ("Jessica" by Julep) is just too thick to be layered over other polishes.  Oh well, I still thought it was kinda cute :)

Sinful Colors Sheer Shimmer Collection

I recently picked up a couple polishes from Sinful Colors' spring Sheer Shimmer collection.  Despite the collection's name, these polishes really are not very sheer which makes me happy!  As much as I love pastel cremes in the spring time, I'm very pleased that these are subtle shimmers.

I absolutely love Flutter!  It's a soft pink with a delicate silver shimmer running through it- I've already worn this polish twice and I've only owned it for a week!  This is two coats.

Sweet Dreams strays from the typical baby blue often used for spring colors, and I'm loving it!  This polish has the same delicate silver shimmer as Flutter.  This is two coats.

I love both of these so much that I may stop by Walgreens and pick up a few more from this collection- there was a coral and sunshine yellow that I passed up, as well as a few re-releases including Cinderella.

PS - The sun was in the early stages of setting when I took these photos, but the colors are still quite accurate :)
